National Merit honorees named at Lynbrook High School

The Lynbrook School District is proud to announce that four students from Lynbrook High School have been honored in the prestigious 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. Cathlyne Cueto and Jack Murray were named Commended Students, while Aaron Malinka and Aidan Michaels will continue in the competition as Semifinalists.
Cathlyne and Jack are among 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation recognized for their exceptional academic promise and high scores on the 2024 Preliminary SAT. Aaron and Aidan are among more than 16,000 Semifinalists who will continue in the competition for 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain a Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
The district wishes Aaron and Aidan the best of luck as they continue in the competition.
